Dr. Bob Mason
Veterinarian/ Owner

Education: Purdue University
Hometown: Kokomo, In
Pets: Rocksand and Lilly(dogs), both Kokomo Humane Society adoptees

Dr. Mason was born in Kokomo and has lived throughout the country practicing veterinary medicine. He graduated from Kokomo High School and Purdue University with a Degree in Veterinary Medicine in 1976. He purchased Jefferson Road Animal Hospital in 1985.

Dr. Mason has been married to Sue since 1973 and together they have three children: Emily, Cara, and Betsy. He is also a grandfather of five.

When not practicing medicine, Dr. Bob enjoys being a grandfather, gardening, cooking, and church activities. He is an active member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.

Dr. Corey Swart
Associate veterinarian

Education: Purdue University
Hometown: Kokomo, In.
Pets: Rascal, mixed breed

Dr. Corey Swart is a native of Kokomo. He graduated from Western High School before obtaining his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biology from Indiana University Kokomo in 2003. He then continued his education at Purdue University where he graduated in 2008 from the School of Veterinary Medicine. In his spare time, Corey enjoys reading a good book, exercising, and spending time with friends and family. Rascal, a terrier mix, is his current sidekick. Along with dogs and cats, he is also interested in pocket pets.

Dr. Katie Rigsby
Associate Veterinarian

Hometown: Kokomo, Indiana

Welcome our newest member, Dr. Katie Rigsby!!!

Dr. Katie Rigsby is originally from Kokomo, IN. She graduated from Northwestern High School before obtaining her Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science from Purdue University. She then worked for Merial Animal Health for 6 years as a sales representative and sales trainer in Atlanta, Georgia and Cincinnati, Ohio. From there, she went on to graduate from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine. In her spare time, Katie enjoys spending time with her husband Mitchell and her two children, Ansley and Tripp. Their dog, Toby and cat, Henry are their beloved pets. When not practicing veterinary medicine, Katie enjoys running, cooking, and vacationing on the beach. She is an active member at South Creek Church of God.

Katie has an interest in all areas of veterinary medicine that involves treating dogs, cats, pocket pets, and reptiles.

Cara Schwartz, RVT
Practice Manager/Registered Veterinary Technician

Education: Purdue University
Hometown: Kokomo, In
Pets: Gwen and Todd

Cara was born and raised in Kokomo and graduated from Kokomo High School in 1995. After high school, she went on to Purdue University where she earned her Veterinary Technician degree. In June 1999, Cara received her certification from the Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners as a Registered Veterinary Technician. In 2008, she became the clinic’s Practice manager.

Cara is married to her husband Andy and they have two children, Ethan and Jack. They also have 1 cat named Gwen and a Pomeranian named Todd.
Cara enjoys spending her personal time with her family and friends.

Alicia Carson, RVT
Registered Veterinary Technicians

Hometown: Walton , Indiana
Bastet, Nub (Cats), and Toots Pitbull mix

Alicia grew up in the small town of Walton, IN. Upon graduating high school in 2007 she attended the Vet. Tech. Institute earning her associates degree in 2008. Alicia proceeded and earned her certification from the Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners as a Registered Veterinary Technician in February of 2009. She recently joined the JRAH team in March of 2017.

Hayley Green, RVT
Registered Veterinary Technician

Education: Harrison College
Hometown: Logansport, In
Pets: Abella, Fergie J(terrier mixes), Puss and Lexus(cats)

Hayley was born and raised in Logansport, Indiana. She graduated from Logansport High School in 2002 and moved to Kokomo shortly after. She took some time off from school to travel. Through the years her passion for helping animals never faded, so she enrolled in Harrison College’s School of Veterinary Technology. There she was an active member of Harrison College Veterinary Technician Association, an association that hosts fundraisers for local rescues and shelters, and Harrison Elite, a peer tutoring program. After graduating with distinct honors in 2011, she earned her certification from the Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners as a Registered Veterinary Technician the following spring.

Hayley resides in Kokomo and have a full house with their 4 pets. She is the proud owner of 2 dogs, Abella and Fergie and two cats, Puss and Lexus. In her spare time, you can find Hayley doing something outdoors. Her hobbies include hiking and kayaking. She also enjoys traveling.

Kyonna Fisher, RVT
Registered Veterinary Technician

Pets: Rhubarb, Cheezie,Mimi, and Halo(cats); Great Dane named Ash; Dorris the tortoise; Babbity the rabbit; and 5 koi fish

Kyonna was born and raised in Peru, IN. After graduating from Peru High School in 1997, Kyonna attended Purdue University and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in 2001. She went on to receive her certification from the Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners as a Registered Veterinary Technician in February 2001. Kyonna has worked for JRAH since 2001.

Kyonna shares her home with 4 cats: Rhubarb, Halo, Cheezie, and Mimi; and a Great Dane named Ash; a rabbit named Babbity; a tortoise named Doris; and 5 koi fish.

As if all her pets don’t keep her busy enough, Kyonna spends her free time reading and working in her yard.

Melissa Mula, RVT
Registered Veterinary Technician

Pets: Russ and Bizzy (poodles) and Ivy(cat)
Melissa was born and raised in Kokomo and graduated from Kokomo High School in 2002. She went on to Purdue University where she graduated in 2006 with her Bachelor’s Degree in Veterinary Technology. She became a Registered Veterinary Technician in 2006. She started as a volunteer in our volunteer program at the age of 13 and was hired as a animal care assistant in March 2000 and has enjoyed working with animals ever since. Melissa is currently our Inventory Manager.

Melissa is married to her husband, Brian since 2011 and they are expecting their first child in May 2018. Melissa and Brian enjoy watching Purdue sports and hanging out with her friends and family. She also enjoys spending time outside and working in the yard and gardening. She and Brian share their home with her two Poodles, Russ and Bizzy, and one cat, Ivy.

Makayla Harvey
Veterinary Assistant

Hometown: Kokomo, Indiana
Pets: 3 dogs- Corkie (Yorkshire Terrier), Jackson (LabraDane), and Bentley (Cairn Terrier)

Makayla was born and raised in Kokomo, Indiana and graduated from Kokomo High School in 2015. She is currently attending Ivy Tech Community College getting her Associate Degree in Business Administration. Someday she would like to own a Doggie Daycare/Boarding facility. She started as a volunteer in our Volunteer program in 2011 at the age of 15 and was hired as a Veterinary Assistant in August of 2015. Makayla loves working with and taking care of animals.

In Makayla’s free time she enjoys watching and attending Purdue and IU football and basketball games as well as spending time with her family, friends and 3 dogs. She also enjoys spending time outside, working in the yard, gardening, camping, traveling, listening to music and attending church activities.

Donna Norris
Receptionist

Hometown: Buffalo, NY
Pets: Rollie (dog) and Wally and Cooper(cats)

Donna was born and raised in Buffalo, New York and moved to Kokomo in 1984.

Donna is married,has 2 children, and 1 grandchild. In her spare time, Donna enjoys playing golf, cooking, going for quiet walk, and spending time with her family.

Donna has worked for JRAH since 2007.

Karen Stavroff
Receptionist

Hometown: Galveston, Indiana
Pets: Kitty

Karen was born in Howard county and has lived all of her life in Galveston, Indiana. She is married to her husband Brian. Together they have 2 daughters, Megan and Kristen, and 2 grand daughters, Makenna and Aleyna, who live overseas with her parents Kristen and Daniel.
They have a cat named Kitty.

Karen started working at our hospital as receptionist in 2016

David Chapman
Animal Care Assistant

Hometown: Marion, In

David was born in Marion, IN but now calls Kokomo home. He has two brothers and three sisters.

David has worked at our hospital since 1991. David keeps the hospital fresh smelling and clean. David enjoys watching football and basketball when not caring for the pets in the kennel. He also likes going to the movies and listening to music.

David says that working with the animals is the best part of his job.
